"Al Ghareebah" (the stranger) was composed by Sune Kølster in 2019, and recorded with Trio Ismena and oudplayer Bilal Irshed in spring 2021, during the second corona lockdown, in the venue ALICE CPH.

"Al Ghareebah" was originally written in connection with the "Between Two Cultures" workshop in "maqamat in contemporary composition", that Sune Kølster was arranging together with egyptian composer and professor Dr. Nahla Mattar, and it was performed by the awtar quartet in the legendary "Arabic Music Institute".
